Women in Green’s kickoff breakfast of 2014 saw nearly 130 people come to hear a conversation with L.A. Mayor, Eric Garcetti’s Chief of Staff, Ana Guerrero and USGBC Ginsberg Fellow, Heather Rosenberg. We learned about Ana’s personal journey as a daughter of a Mexican farm worker, to a strong community organizer who became the Chief of Staff for the Mayor the Los Angeles. Ana stressed the importance of a sponsor/”sponsee” relationship between two people as an effective way to mentor, support and benefit from close relationships with professionals in your field. Flowing from personal story to city-wide planning goals and sustainable strategies, Heather’s questions gave us insight into both the personal and the political – providing a meaningful context for understanding the people behind the policies we all work so hard to support. We were again a proud table sponsor for this evocative and inspirational series.
