Los Angeles — November 05, 2014 — Today, Gaia announced that the U.S. Green Building Council has designated Gaia a LEED® Proven Provider™ for the Building Design and Construction rating system family. This designation was developed to streamline the LEED project review process for experienced organizations that demonstrate consistent excellence in administering LEED projects.
“Quality is at the core of the LEED certification process, and Gaia has exhibited expertise in helping to bring healthy, high-performing buildings to the market,” said Doug Gatlin, vice president of program delivery, USGBC and GBCI. “The LEED Proven Provider model represents a great partnership between Gaia and GBCI, because it allows GBCI to maintain a rigorous certification program and gives Gaia the opportunity to deliver LEED projects to its clients faster.”
“First, Proven Provider definitely helps us shorten the overall time to final certification,” according to Ryan McEvoy, founder and principal of Gaia. “Second, we have established great working relationships with our reviewers—a helpful feedback loop to facilitate comments and their speedy resolution. Third, we can discuss energy model details by phone, enabling the reviewer to better understand the project and for us to make quick revisions if necessary before full submission. This eliminates the traditional wait time between comment, revision, resubmittal and final review.”
LEED Proven Provider is designed to encourage and reward high-quality LEED project submissions to minimize the need for additional work during the project review process. It represents an opportunity for Gaia and LEED reviewers to work together to enhance the LEED certification experience, simultaneously allowing Gaia to further invest in quality control and continuous improvement and allowing LEED reviewers more opportunities for direct engagement with and support for project teams.
Recently certified LEED projects from Gaia include:
|DIRECTV Headquarters, El Segundo, CA | LEED Platinum, ID+C||Honda Performance Development Facility, Valencia, CA | LEED Silver, O+M: Existing Buildings||NASA Facilities Support Center, Edwards Air Force Base, CA | LEED Platinum, NC|
|Urban Outfitters West Coast Fulfillment Center, Reno, NV | LEED Silver, NC||The Village (Sites A&B), Santa Monica, CA | LEED Gold & Silver, NC|
Organizations that demonstrate and maintain high-quality project submissions through LEED Proven Provider receive significant benefits, such as greater access to a LEED reviewer and recognition from USGBC for their sustained track record of high-quality project submissions.
